Suspect Hospitalized After Officer-Involved Shooting Causes Road Closure, CT State Police Say

An officer-involved shooting that led to the closure of a busy area roadway is underway investigation.

At approximately 6 p.m. on, Saturday, April 20, two Wethersfield officers attempted a motor vehicle stop of the suspect’s vehicle on Route 99 (Silas Deane Highway), state police said. 

After a collision between the suspect's vehicle and a Wethersfield Police cruiser, one officer exited his vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle drove towards that officer, who then discharged his firearm, said police.

The male suspect was injured and transported to Hartford Hospital, according to police. The female passenger wasn’t injured, was detained by Wethersfield Police Department and released a short time later.

The condition of the suspect and the names of all involved will be released later, police said.

Central District Major Crime Squad (CDMCS) Detectives were requested by the New Britain State’s Attorney’s Office to investigate the shooting.
